About Meredith

Jack of All Trades, Master of Pun

Meredith is native to the DC area and as she reviews her childhood, it’s easy to source out her love for puns. Whether it was her father’s constant, delightful “dad jokes,” her endless amusement with “Jumping to Conclusions” in The Phantom Tollbooth, or listening to Tom Chapin’s Billy the Squid album on a loop from the car seat of her mother’s station wagon – puns were ingrained into her from a young age.

Her affinity for word play only grew and it truly flourished when she got to college. There, Meredith had the good fortune of taking an Introduction to Shakespeare course with a professor who brought the Bard’s language to life. Meredith fell in love with his prose – and, of course, his puns!

After littering her college papers with punny titles, Meredith started working at her local Shakespeare Mecca. There, her brilliant, nerdy, and incredibly witty co-workers, particularly her officemate Elyse, sharpened Meredith’s pun game. She soon discovered that she not only enjoyed puns, but she also had a talent for making them.

This prowess was put on display for the first time when she was on a scuba diving trip in Bonaire. Challenged to “tell a diving joke in exchange for a drink,” Meredith unleashed the Kraken of puns in quick succession, surprising even herself at how quickly they came to her.

After earning her masters degree, Meredith went in search of new pursuits that would allow her to flex her creative muscles more regularly.

Now, Meredith is ready to work those muscles regularly and use In an I-Deeley World to get those puns of steel!

Outside of work and torturing the English language, Meredith enjoys running, reading, scuba diving, sketching, and puzzling. She also has a tendency to interrupt conversations to point out any animal nearby – particularly dogs.
